Although not necessarily addressing Christian leaders, the talks are practical and directly applicable to any leadership position you hold. Start with Maxwell’s classic talk on the 5 ministry Levels of Leadership, and see if you can make progress up the leadership ladder.*

Education

Karen Glass, A Thinking Love: Studies from Charlotte Mason’s Home Education (July 18, 2022).

Glass does it again, providing an accessible resource for those who combine classical and Charlotte Mason education. This book includes excerpts both from Charlotte Mason’s Home Education and from some of her speeches. At the end of each short chapter, she offers discussion questions for groups. This setup is great for teachers or even for a group combining teachers and parents. Mason’s outlook is wise and refreshing even 100 years after her death.

Understanding the Times

Sam Allberry, What God Has to Say about Our Bodies: How the Gospel is Good News for Our Physical Selves (Crossway, 2021).

Allberry writes a book that addresses so many issues that are facing Christians today—from creation and gender to shame and the incarnation, from the indwelling Spirit to the Resurrection. Allberry speaks God’s truth about humanity, sexuality, sin and discipleship with clarity, grace, compassion, and hope. This is not just a study of our world; it is a hymn to our creator. This book won of a 2022 Christianity Today Award.*

Personal Discipleship

Andrew Wilson, The God of All Things: Rediscovering the Sacred in the Everyday World (Zondervan, 2021).

Wilson, teaching pastor from King’s Church in London, reminds us how God is revealed in the ordinary and the everyday. In thirty short chapters, he talks about light and stones, jars and pigs, tools and honey. We see the glory of God and the baseness and beauty of humanity set alongside the promise of consummation that awaits not only believers but also the created world. You will never look at dust, viruses, and bread quite the same way again.*
